Milos Kerkes, former Milan full-back now with AZ Alkmaar, commented on Scouted Football about his arrival at the Rossoneri: “There were a lot of interests for me during the winter. Everything was going fast because the period was like that. It’s short. Actually I wanted to stay in Hungary. to grow physically and leave in the summer. Two days before the window, [Paolo] Maldini called me personally, wanted a meeting with me and my parents, and we talked, which was a big draw for me. You know when Maldini calls you, you don’t think much. After that it was clear that I would go to Milan. It was a big club and when they want you like that you can’t refuse. In the spring you have a lot of really talented guys and you can grow tactically there, which worked well for me. I was determined to prove myself.

How is Italian football?

“Football is different everywhere. In Italy we expect more tactical football, in Hungary it was more physical, now in Holland it is wider football with quick changes in both defense and attack. In my experience in Italy it was always about tactics. Also in Primavera, we did video analysis for an hour and a half after each match. There was a lot of video analysis and free-kick analysis, so I grew a lot tactically to play smart and use my head more on the field. I think it was a good learning experience and the perfect way to grow.”

How was the training with AC Milan champions?

“It was crazy to train with the first team. The first time I went there, and I was looking around, there was Ibra, Hernandez and Lau. It was really new to me. I saw them on TV two months ago and now I was training with them. It was Great, but it was a really good experience. They were all good guys. At the same time I wanted to challenge myself, I was training hard in training. I wanted to show myself to the coach and show that I can be a part of the team.”

Who has studied more?

“I’ve watched Théo Hernández a lot. I still do. He taught me a lot in offensive play, like how to run inside space, how to make more space with the speed we have and how to use our speed in the best way.”

After debuting with Pro Sesto, Milan took Ballo-Touré as Theo’s reserve…

“I was expecting to play more in the first team after that. I was expecting the opportunity because I was doing better than any Primavera defender from any team. But unfortunately it didn’t happen that way. It is clear that Milan is a great club and it is not easy to win With a chance there when he’s young. But I think with my performances and what I did maybe he deserved to get a chance, but you know every club has their own philosophy on how to work with young people, so in the end I decided this. [non avere una possibilità in prima squadra] I wanted to go play football with the best.”

Milan initially offered Kirkez on loan, but his entourage were determined to secure him a permanent contract to ensure his career did not go wrong.

“We had a lot of offers to loan, but being a player on loan is a very risky situation. Maybe the team wants to play with the academy player instead of you, so I didn’t like the loan decision very much. I wanted a permanent transfer if possible, and it was really difficult because Milan didn’t He would like to surrender to me easily.”
