Garrett Gerloff’s Superbike adventure with Yamaha officially ends: the American rider, starting next season, will be part of the Bonovo Action Team and will drive BMW.

A love story that ended poorly between Gerloff and Yamaha: The American, after a fantastic debut season in Superbike, has conquered the top of the Japanese house. Gerloff actually got a chance to ride a Yamaha MotoGP in official appearance, as well as the Dutch Grand Prix in 2021. The American was also the most serious candidate to replace Razgatlioglu, should the Turk be overtaken in the MotoGP.

The forgotten 2021 season, which was also marked by the blunder at the Dutch Grand Prix, and 2022 without a hat-trick, made Gerloff slide down the Japanese house hierarchy. So Team GRT chose not to continue collaborating with the American rider who will be a record holder for the Bonovo Action BMW Team from next year.

For Gerloff, Team Bonovo is the right opportunity to reboot and come back to show the speed with which it has wowed everyone in 2020.

“We’ve been following for some time – admit BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director Mark Bongros – Developed and performed by Garrett Gerloff at WorldSBK. He has shown that he is fast, talented and has now matured as a driver. We are happy to have Jarrett with us from next season. We are convinced that he will find himself well in the passenger team of our BMW Motorrad plant and that he will further strengthen our project. Gerloff will definitely help the Bonovo Action team take more steps towards the top.”

“We are delighted that a passenger like Garrett Gerloff – Announces Team owner Jürgen RuderJoin the Bonovo team. We can’t wait to start working together and are confident that it will be an excellent 2023 season. Hopefully we can give Gerlove the bike he wants: we’re very confident about next season! “

The Bonovo Action Team should also confirm Loris Paz, author of a good season so far, on the BMW M1000RR. In fact, the French driver is battling with Gerlov for second place in the standings reserved for independent team drivers. The Baz-Gerloff duo, who will form in 2023, will surely represent one of the best squads when it comes to independent teams.
